Models

124 Spider
1966 – 1985
The Fiat 124 Spider is one of the great Italian open-top sports cars. Designed by Pininfarina and launched in 1966, the 124 Spider used a twin-cam engine developed by Aurelio Lampredi — a design so successful it was later used in Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat applications. The Spider was produced until 1985, with later cars sold as the Pininfarina Spider in Europe. In the United States the 124 Spider was one of the best-selling sports cars of the 1970s. The twin-cam engine is free-revving and characterful, and the Spider offers a genuine Italian driving experience at accessible prices. Timing belt replacement is critical — this is an interference engine and belt failure causes total destruction. Rust in the sills and floor is the primary structural concern.

500 (Nuova)
1957 – 1975
The Fiat 500 Nuova is one of the most iconic small cars ever produced. Launched in 1957 to motorise post-war Italy, the 500 used an air-cooled rear-mounted twin-cylinder engine of just 479cc, later increased to 499cc and 594cc. The minimalist design by Dante Giacosa has aged beautifully and the 500 remains one of the most recognisable cars in the world. The Fiat 500 is available as a saloon with a roll-back canvas roof, the F-series convertible, the Giardiniera estate and the Abarth-tuned variants. Mechanics are simple and the cars respond well to careful maintenance. Rust is comprehensive on surviving examples — a fully restored 500 requires attention to every panel.

131 Mirafiori
1974 – 1984
The Fiat 131 Mirafiori was Fiat main rear-wheel-drive family car of the 1970s and early 1980s, replacing the 124. Available as two-door and four-door saloon and an estate, the 131 used a range of engines from the 1.3 single-cam through to twin-cam 1.6 and 2.0-litre units in the Supermirafiori and Abarth variants. The 131 Abarth rally car won the World Rally Championship in 1977, 1978 and 1980, making it a significant motorsport icon. Road cars benefit from simple mechanicals and good parts availability. The twin-cam versions offer sporting performance while the single-cam cars are more practical daily classics. Rust is the primary concern on all examples.
