Audi A3 with S-tronic DSG gearbox hesitates, shudders or creeps awkwardly when pulling away. Identical to VW DSG issue across VAG group. This fault code is stored when the engine control unit detects a specific fault condition. Common causes include sensor failures, wiring faults, and component wear. Always read additional fault codes before replacing parts — multiple codes together provide a clearer diagnosis. Clear the code after repair and test drive to confirm the fault does not return.

✅ FixedMechatronic unit fault — main dealer sorted it
Hesitation got worse then started getting fault codes for the mechatronic unit. Audi dealer replaced the mechatronic unit under extended warranty. Not cheap out of warranty — about £1,400 — but covered in my case. Push Audi hard if yours fails early.

✅ FixedDSG service at 38k — should've been done at 40k
Hesitation and occasional shudder from rest. Audi say DSG fluid is lifetime but it's not. Had it serviced by a VAG specialist at 38k. Old fluid was dark and smelled burnt. New fluid transformed the gearbox — smooth pull away, no hesitation.
