BMW 730d Turbocharger Shaft Seal Failure — Blue Smoke
The turbocharger centre bearing seals on M57 turbos wear at high mileage, allowing oil to pass into the intake causing blue smoke on boost. Oily residue inside the intercooler and air intake pipe confirms turbo seal failure. Oil contamination of the intercooler requires cleaning before fitting a replacement turbo.
