The ZF 6HP26 automatic gearbox fitted to E65/E66 730d uses a mechatronics unit combining valve body with integrated electronics. Failure causes erratic gear selection, stuck in single gear, harsh or delayed shifts and gearbox warning lights. Fault codes P0730/P0736/P0715 stored. The mechatronics can be repaired or replaced. Fluid neglect accelerates failure.
