Kia Ceed Mk2 1.6 CRDi EGR valve fault — limp mode
Engine management light and reduced power on the Kia Ceed 1.6 CRDi diesel. The EGR valve accumulates carbon deposits and sticks, triggering limp mode. Cleaning the EGR valve and EGR cooler pipes resolves the fault in most cases. Kia dealers perform EGR cleaning as a service item. Blanking the EGR is not recommended on Euro 5/6 vehicles as additional fault codes are triggered. Use premium diesel with detergent additive to slow carbon deposit formation.
