Steering wheel vibration at specific speeds (typically 80-120 km/h) is almost always caused by wheel imbalance or tyre flat spots. Vibration that occurs at all speeds and worsens when braking indicates warped brake discs. Vibration that pulls to one side indicates incorrect wheel alignment. Start with a wheel balance — it costs £40-60 for all four wheels and resolves the majority of steering wheel vibration complaints. Check tyre condition for flat spots before balancing.

🧾 Driver Reports

✅ Fixed Front wheel bearing — vibration at all speeds not just one

My vibration was different — it was there at all speeds above 40mph not just a specific speed band. Also had a faint humming that changed when I moved the steering slightly left or right. That's a wheel bearing sign. Garage confirmed it, changed the nearside front bearing. No more vibration or hum. Cost £140 fitted.

Parts replaced: Front wheel bearing (nearside)

✅ Fixed Front tyre had a bubble — dangerous

Had the wheels balanced twice and the vibration came back. Tyre place finally spotted a bulge on the inner sidewall of the front left — not visible from normal inspection angle. New tyre sorted it straight away. Also a safety issue — sidewall bubbles can blowout. Worth checking tyres carefully if balancing doesn't cure it.

Parts replaced: 1x front tyre

✅ Fixed Wheel balance — one weight had fallen off

Vibration between 65-75mph, worse when I accelerated through that speed. Went to Kwik Fit for a balance check — front right had no weights at all on it, must have fallen off at some point. £25 for all four wheels balanced. Vibration is 100% gone. Always try balancing first, it's the cheapest fix by far.

Parts replaced: None — balance weights fitted
