Inconsistent panel gaps around doors, bonnet, and boot lid. Paint quality variations. The Tesla Model Y had documented build quality issues in early production, particularly from the Fremont factory in 2020-2021. Rear body panel misalignment is the most commonly reported issue. Most panel gap issues can be corrected during a service centre body alignment appointment within the first year of ownership. Requesting a pre-delivery inspection before accepting the vehicle is strongly recommended.
