The plastic coolant transfer pipe on N57 diesel F10 5 Series can crack causing sudden coolant loss and overheating. The pipe runs along the top of the engine and is accessible but requires care to replace. Updated silicone replacement pipes prevent recurrence. Cost: £200-400.
