What's the difference between browsing by symptom and by fault?
Symptoms describe what you observe — a noise, a light, a smell. Faults describe the underlying technical cause. Browsing by symptom is the right starting point when you haven't diagnosed the issue yet; browsing by fault code or make/model is faster once you already know what's wrong.

Why are some symptoms listed under more than one category?
They aren't — each symptom is assigned a single primary vehicle system (engine, electrical, brakes, etc.) based on where it's most commonly reported, even though some symptoms (like warning lights) can technically relate to more than one system.

How is the fault count on each symptom card calculated?
It counts approved fault cases on MyCarFault that have been tagged with that specific symptom by the reporting driver, so it reflects real community data rather than an estimate.
