Opel Astra J 2.0 CDTi EGR cooler crack — white smoke
White smoke from the exhaust, particularly at start-up, and coolant level dropping slowly on the Opel Astra J 2.0 CDTi. The EGR cooler develops internal cracks allowing coolant to enter the exhaust gas recirculation system. A cracked EGR cooler will eventually allow coolant into the intake manifold and combustion chambers. Replace the EGR cooler and valve simultaneously. Check the cylinder head for warping if the coolant loss has been severe.
