The Peugeot 308 with the 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder engine (EB2/HN01) has a widely reported timing chain failure issue. The chain can fail as early as 60,000 km, causing catastrophic engine damage. PSA Group (Stellantis) lost multiple court cases over this fault across Europe. An extended warranty and compensation programme has been offered in some markets. Owners should have the chain inspected at 60,000 km and the oil changed every 10,000 km maximum.
