Overheating warning or coolant loss on the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 turbo petrol engine. The electric water pump on the 2.0 GME engine is a known weak point. The pump can fail without warning, causing rapid overheating. The electric pump is located at the rear of the engine and replacement requires partial disassembly. Proactive replacement at 80,000 km is recommended. Always use genuine Alfa Romeo coolant — the system is aluminium-intensive and generic coolant causes corrosion.
