🔴 Fix Immediately
The Honda Accord with the 2.2 i-DTEC diesel engine has a known timing chain tensioner weakness. Honda issued a technical service bulletin recommending tensioner replacement at 150,000 km. However, failures have been reported as early as 90,000 km on vehicles with inconsistent oil change history. The chain is at the rear of the engine (gearbox end) making replacement extremely expensive — £2000-4000 at a Honda specialist. Prevention through regular 10,000 km oil changes is critical.
