Chery Tiggo 7 Pro 1.6T engine timing chain rattle on cold start
A rattling noise from the top of the engine lasting 2-3 seconds on cold starts. The SQRE4T16D 1.6T engine uses a simplex timing chain that can develop rattle due to tensioner wear. Regular oil changes at or before the recommended interval significantly reduce the risk. If the rattle persists beyond 5 seconds or occurs when warm, the chain and tensioner assembly requires urgent inspection.
