Engine management light with reduced performance on the Ford Focus Mk4 1.5 EcoBlue diesel. The EGR valve accumulates carbon deposits and sticks in an incorrect position. Cleaning the EGR valve and EGR cooler pipes resolves the fault in most cases. Ford dealers perform EGR cleaning as a standard service item. If the EGR valve mechanism is damaged, replacement is required. Blanking the EGR is not recommended on Euro 6 vehicles as it causes further fault codes.
